Life will provide her with the natural stimulation she needs to develop. You may wonder, will my baby develop as quickly or as well as other babies without stimulating her? My answer is yes. Trust that she will develop in her own time, rhythm and manner.

Respect is the basis of the RIE philosophy. We not only respect babies, we demonstrate our respect every time we interact with them. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique human being, not as an object.

That we should respect each other as adults is something that most people agree on, but so often this is overlooked when it comes to children - yet even the smallest baby is worthy of respect.

If infants are ready to do something, they will do it. In fact, when they are ready, they have to do it.

How often have you heard questions like ‘Is she crawling yet?’ or ‘Is he walking yet?’ when adults talk about babies. I’m going to hazard a guess that these questions are fairly familiar to you, because we place a lot of value on milestones such as these. As a result we are often keen for babies to move on to the next stage – to do what they can’t yet do.
